私たちのコーチングについて

※国際コーチ連盟(ICF)とは、世界138カ国、31,490人(2019年9月現在)が会員として所属している、世界で最も大きなコーチングの団体です。
ICFの会員であること、またICFの資格保持者はプロフェッショナルなコーチとしての信頼に直結すると世界で認識されています。

コーチング「コア・コンピテンシー」
(ICF Core Competencies)

「コア・コンピテンシー」は4つの項目に分かれています。
各項目も優劣がなく全てが重要であり、
4つの項目は互いにつながり合っています。

A. Foundation

1.Demonstrates Ethical Practice

Definition: Understands and consistently applies coaching ethics and standards of coaching.

  1. Demonstrates personal integrity and honesty in interactions with clients, sponsors and relevant stakeholders
  2. Is sensitive to clients’ identity, environment, experiences, values and beliefs
  3. Uses language appropriate and respectful to clients, sponsors and relevant stakeholders
  4. Abides by the ICF Code of Ethics and upholds the Core Values
  5. Maintains confidentiality with client information per stakeholder agreements and pertinent laws
  6. Maintains the distinctions between coaching, consulting, psychotherapy and other support professions
  7. Refers clients to other support professionals, as appropriate

 

2.Embodies a Coaching Mindset

Definition: Develops and maintains a mindset that is open, curious, flexible and client-centered

  1. Acknowledges that clients are responsible for their own choices
  2. Engages in ongoing learning and development as a coach
  3. Develops an ongoing reflective practice to enhance one’s coaching
  4. Remains aware of and open to the influence of context and culture on self and others
  5. Uses awareness of self and one’s intuition to benefit clients
  6. Develops and maintains the ability to regulate one’s emotions
  7. Mentally and emotionally prepares for sessions
  8. Seeks help from outside sources when necessary

B. Co-Creating the Relationship

3.Establishes and Maintains Agreements

Definition: Partners with the client and relevant stakeholders to create clear agreements about the coaching relationship, process, plans and goals. Establishes agreements for the overall coaching engagement as well as those for each coaching session.

  1. Explains what coaching is and is not and describes the process to the client and relevant stakeholders
  2. Reaches agreement about what is and is not appropriate in the relationship, what is and is not being offered, and the responsibilities of the client and relevant stakeholders
  3. Reaches agreement about the guidelines and specific parameters of the coaching relationship such as logistics, fees, scheduling, duration, termination, confidentiality and inclusion of others
  4. Partners with the client and relevant stakeholders to establish an overall coaching plan and goals
  5. Partners with the client to determine client-coach compatibility
  6. Partners with the client to identify or reconfirm what they want to accomplish in the session
  7. Partners with the client to define what the client believes they need to address or resolve to achieve what they want to accomplish in the session
  8. Partners with the client to define or reconfirm measures of success for what the client wants to accomplish in the coaching engagement or individual session
  9. Partners with the client to manage the time and focus of the session
  10. Continues coaching in the direction of the client’s desired outcome unless the client indicates otherwise
  11. Partners with the client to end the coaching relationship in a way that honors the experience

 

4.Cultivates Trust and Safety

Definition: Partners with the client to create a safe, supportive environment that allows the client to share
freely. Maintains a relationship of mutual respect and trust.

  1. Seeks to understand the client within their context which may include their identity, environment, experiences, values and beliefs
  2. Demonstrates respect for the client’s identity, perceptions, style and language and adapts one’s coaching to the client
  3. Acknowledges and respects the client’s unique talents, insights and work in the coaching process
  4. Shows support, empathy and concern for the client
  5. Acknowledges and supports the client’s expression of feelings, perceptions, concerns, beliefs and suggestions
  6. Demonstrates openness and transparency as a way to display vulnerability and build trust with the client

 

5.Maintains Presence

Definition: Is fully conscious and present with the client, employing a style that is open, flexible, grounded
and confident.

  1. Remains focused, observant, empathetic and responsive to the client
  2. Demonstrates curiosity during the coaching process
  3. Manages one’s emotions to stay present with the client
  4. Demonstrates confidence in working with strong client emotions during the coaching process
  5. Is comfortable working in a space of not knowing
  6. Creates or allows space for silence, pause or reflection

C. Communicating Effectively

6.Listens Actively

Definition: Focuses on what the client is and is not saying to fully understand what is being communicated in the context of the client systems and to support client self-expression

  1. Considers the client’s context, identity, environment, experiences, values and beliefs to enhance understanding of what the client is communicating
  2. Reflects or summarizes what the client communicated to ensure clarity and understanding
  3. Recognizes and inquires when there is more to what the client is communicating
  4. Notices, acknowledges and explores the client’s emotions, energy shifts, non-verbal cues or other behaviors
  5. Integrates the client’s words, tone of voice and body language to determine the full meaning of what is being communicated
  6. Notices trends in the client’s behaviors and emotions across sessions to discern themes and patterns

 

7.Evokes Awareness

Definition: Facilitates client insight and learning by using tools and techniques such as powerful questioning, silence, metaphor or analogy.

  1. Considers client experience when deciding what might be most useful
  2. Challenges the client as a way to evoke awareness or insight
  3. Asks questions about the client, such as their way of thinking, values, needs, wants and beliefs
  4. Asks questions that help the client explore beyond current thinking
  5. Invites the client to share more about their experience in the moment
  6. Notices what is working to enhance client progress
  7. Adjusts the coaching approach in response to the client’s needs
  8. Helps the client identify factors that influence current and future patterns of behavior, thinking or emotion
  9. Invites the client to generate ideas about how they can move forward and what they are willing or able to do
  10. Supports the client in reframing perspectives
  11. Shares observations, insights and feelings, without attachment, that have the potential to create new learning for the client

D. Cultivating Learning and Growth

8.Facilitates Client Growth

Definition: Partners with the client to transform learning and insight into action. Promotes client autonomy in the coaching process.

  1. Works with the client to integrate new awareness, insight or learning into their worldview and behaviors
  2. Partners with the client to design goals, actions and accountability measures that integrate and expand new learning
  3. Acknowledges and supports client autonomy in the design of goals, actions and methods of accountability
  4. Supports the client in identifying potential results or learning from identified action steps
  5. Invites the client to consider how to move forward, including resources, support and potential barriers
  6. Partners with the client to summarize learning and insight within or between sessions
  7. Celebrates the client’s progress and successes
  8. Partners with the client to close the session

「コア・コンピテンシー」改訂と私たち

国際コーチ連盟(ICF)の定める「コア・コンピテンシー」は、1998年から、私たちプロフェッショナルとしてコーチングを提供する者にとって、不可欠な基盤となってきましたが、より現在のコーチングの実践を反映したものへと改訂されました(アメリカ時間(ICF本部の拠点)の2019年11月14日に、コーチング「コア・コンピテンシー」の改訂が発表されました。)。

新しいコーチング「コア・コンピテンシー」は、より簡素化し合理化された構造と明確で一貫した言語に統合され、4つのカテゴリー11項目から、4つのカテゴリー8項目に変わりました。

なお、コーチング「コア・コンピテンシー」の改訂に伴い、コーチの資格認定評価制度も更新されます。

私たちも、改訂されたコーチング「コア・コンピテンシー」に柔軟に適応し、これからもより一層クライアントのご期待に添えるよう邁進いたします!

旧「コア・コンピテンシー(ICF Core Competencies)」

「コア・コンピテンシー」は4つの項目に分かれています。

A. ファウンデーションを確立する

1. コーチの倫理規定とプロとしての基準を満たしている

コーチングの倫理と基準を理解し、あらゆるコーチングの状況においてそれを適用する能力があること。

  1. ICFの倫理規定(第3部の「倫理誓約」を参照)を理解し、自らの行動に反映させることができる。
  2. ICFの倫理指針のすべてを理解し、それに従うことができる。
  3. コーチング、カウンセリング、セラピー、その他のサポートを専門とする職業との区別を明確に伝えることができる。
  4. 必要に応じて、クライアントを他の専門家に、適切なタイミングで紹介することができる。そして、それに必要十分なネットワークを持っている。

2. コーチングに関する同意を取り交わしている

特定の状況において、どのようにコーチングを行えばよいのかを理解する能力があり、クライアント候補や新しいクライアントにコーチングのプロセスや、コーチとクライアントとの関係について説明することができる。

  1. クライアントに対して、コーチングにおけるガイドラインやコーチとクライアントとの関係について、的確に話すことができる。
    コーチングのガイドラインや条件(進め方、料金、スケジュールの組み方、その他必要とされるものを含む)についても理解し、クライアントと的確に話すことができる。
  2. クライアントとコーチとの間でどのような関係が適切、不適切であるかについての同意と、コーチとして提供しないサービス、クライアントの責任とコーチの責任などについて、同意を取りつけることができる。
  3. 自分のコーチングの方法が、クライアント候補者のニーズにうまく合っているかどうかを判断することができる。

B.関係をともに築く

3. クライアントと親密な信頼関係を築いている

お互いの尊敬と信頼を継続的につくり出すための、安全で協力的な環境をつくり出す能力がある。

  1. クライアントの幸福や将来に対する真の気遣いを示すことができる。
  2. 個人的な誠実さ、正直さ、真剣さを常に表現している。
  3. 明確な同意のもとに、約束を守ることができる。
  4.  クライアントのものの見方、学び方、個人としての存在に対して敬意を払っている。
  5. たとえ、リスクを伴うものや、失敗への恐れの気持ちを引き起こすことであっても、新たな振る舞いや行動に対し、継続的なサポートをすることができる。
  6. クライアントにとって繊細で新しい分野についてコーチをする際は、事前に許可をとることができる。

4. コーチとしてのプレゼンスがある

オープンで柔軟で自信にあふれたコーチング・スタイルを用いることで、十分に自覚を持ってクライアントと自発的な関係をつくることができる。

  1. コーチング・セッションの間、一瞬一瞬を軽やかに対応しつつ、存在感があり柔軟である。
  2. 自分の直感にアクセスし、内側の感覚を信頼する。つまり、「本能に従う」。
  3. 知らないことに対してオープンであり、リスクを冒すことを恐れない。
  4. クライアントに対して、取り組む手段を数多く見出すことができ、その際に一番効果的な方法を選ぶことができる。
  5. 軽やかさとエネルギーを生み出すために、ユーモアを効果的に利用することができる。
  6. ものの見方を大胆に変えることができ、自分自身の行動において新しい可能性を試すことができる。
  7. 感情を自信を持って取り扱うことができ、クライアントの感情に負けたり、巻き込まれないように自己管理することができる。

C. 効果的なコミュニケーション

5. アクティブ・リスニングをしている

クライアントが言葉で表現していること、表現していないことについて完全に集中して聞くことができ、クライアントの要望内容からその真意を理解し、クライアントの自己表現をサポートする能力がある。

  1. コーチがクライアントのために用意する課題ではなく、クライアント自身とそのクライアントが持つ課題に注意を払うことができる。
  2. 何ができ、何ができないのかについてのクライアントの懸念、目標、価値、信念を聞くことができる。
  3. 言葉づかい、声のトーン、ボディランゲージからメッセージを聞き分けることができる。
  4. クライアントの話を明確に理解したかどうかを確認するために、クライアントが言ったことを要約したり、言い換えたり、繰り返したりすることができる。
  5. クライアントが感情、認識、懸念、信念、提案などを表現することを促し、それを受け入れ、探求し、後押しすることができる。
  6. クライアントのアイディアと提案を統合し、展開させることができる。
  7. クライアントのコミュニケーションの本質的な部分を理解し、長くて回りくどい説明を抜きにして、核心にたどり着くことを援助することができる。
  8. 次のステップに前進するために、批判や判断を加えずにクライアントが状況を打開できるようにする。

6. 効果的な質問をしている

クライアント自身やコーチングの関係にとって最高の利益を得るために、必要な情報を引き出す質問をすることができる。

  1. アクティブ・リスニングをし、クライアントの視点を理解するための質問をすることができる。
  2. 気づき、洞察、コミットメント、もしくは行動を呼び起こす質問をすることができる(例:クライアントが予測する領域を超越するような質問)。
  3. さらなる明解さ、可能性、新たな学びを生むようなオープン・クエスチョンをすることができる。
  4. クライアントが自分を正当化したり、過去を振り返ったりするための質問ではなく、相手が本当に望んでいる方向に進んでいける質問をすることができる。

7. 率直なコミュニケーションをとっている

コーチング・セッション中に効果的なコミュニケーションを行う能力と、クライアントにポジティブなインパクトを与える言葉を使う能力がある。

  1. フィードバックをする際に、はっきりと、口に出して直接的に伝えることができる。
  2. クライアントが不明確に感じている点や望んでいることを、異なる視点から理解できるように言い換え、効果的に表現することができる。
  3. コーチングの目的、セッションのレジュメ、使うテクニックやエクササイズの目的を明確に伝えることができる。
  4. クライアントに対して、適切で敬意を込めた言葉を使うことができる(例:性差別をしない、人種差別をしない、専門用語や業界用語を使わない)。
  5. 話のポイントをより明確にし、言葉によって具体的な絵が描けるように、メタファーや逸話を使うことができる。

D. 学び、成果を得ることを促す

8. 気づきを促している

複数の情報源を統合して正確に評価できる能力や、クライアントがそれによって気づきを得て、合意に基づいた成果に至るプロセスを説明できる能力がある。

  1. クライアントの懸念を見極める中で、本人による説明に惑わされることなく、言語外のことを読み取ることができる。
  2. さらに深い理解、気づきを得たり、物事をはっきりさせるような質問をすることができる。
  3. クライアントの根底にある潜在的な懸念、典型的で凝り固まった自分自身への思い込みや世の中に対する認識、事実と解釈の違い、思考、感情、行動との間のギャップなどを指摘することができる。
  4. クライアントが行動を起こし、大事なものに到達する能力を強化するような新しい考え、信条、ものの見方、感情などを自分自身で見つけられるように手助けをすることができる。
  5. クライアントに広い視野から見解を伝えることができる。そうすることで、クライアントの視点をシフトさせ、行動を起こすための新たな可能性を見つけることを後押しすることができる。
  6. クライアントが自分自身や自分の行動に影響を及ぼしている、相互に関連した多様な要因を見据える手助けができる。(例:思考、感情、身体、バックグラウンド)
  7. クライアントが受け取りやすい形で、有益な情報を提供することができる。
  8. コーチングのプロセスの中で、学びと成長を続けるために重要な強みと分野、そして扱うべき重要事項を明らかにすることができる。
  9. 実際に話していることとやっていることの間にギャップがあると気づいたときに、すぐに、些細なことと重要なことの違い、状況に反応して起こる行動と自動的に起こる行動を見分けるようにクライアントに伝えることができる。

9. 行動をデザインしている

クライアントとともに、コーチングの期間中や、日常生活を送る上で、継続的な学習ができるような機会をつくり出すことができる。また、同意の上で決定したコーチングの成果へ最も効果的にたどり着くようにクライアントに新しい行動を起こさせることができる。

  1. クライアントが新しい学習を行い、さらに深めることができるような行動を明らかにするため、クライアントとブレインストーミングをしたり、サポートしたりすることができる。
  2. 同意の上に決定したコーチングのゴールを達成するために重要となる懸念やチャンスに焦点を当てたり、体系的に探求できるようサポートしたりすることができる。
  3. 既存のものではない新しいアイディアや解決方法を探ったり、さまざまな選択肢を評価したり、関連した決断を下せるように働きかけることができる。
  4. クライアントが、セッション中に話し合ったことや学習したことをすぐに仕事や日常生活で生かせるよう、積極的に試し、自己発見することを促すことができる。
  5. クライアントの成功と未来への成長を喜ぶことができる。
  6. 新たなアイディアや新しい行動の可能性を探るために、クライアントの思い込みやものの見方に挑戦することができる。
  7. クライアントのゴールと一致する視点を支持するか前進させることができ、その視点にこだわることなく、クライアントに熟考させることができる。
  8. 迅速にサポートすることで、コーチングのセッション中にクライアントが「今すぐやる」ように促すことができる。
  9. クライアントにとって心地よい学習のペースを保ちながら、クライアントが全力で物事に取り組み、チャレンジすることを後押しすることができる。

10. 計画と、ゴールセッティングをしている

クライアントと効果的なコーチングプランをつくり出し、それを維持することができる。

  1. 集めた情報を整理し、学習と成長のための懸念や、重要な分野に取り組むためのコーチングプランと成果目標をクライアントとともにつくり上げていくことができる。
  2. 達成可能で測定可能、かつ具体的な成果があり、目標の期日が設定できるコーチングプランをつくることができる。
  3. コーチングのプロセスに応じて、また事態の変化に応じて、計画の調整をすることができる。
  4. クライアントが学習する上で役立つさまざまな情報源を探し、そこにアクセスする手助けをすることができる(例:本、他の専門家)。
  5. クライアントにとって重要な事柄において、なるべく早く成功する方法を探り、目標とすることができる。

11. 進捗を管理し、責任を明確にしている

クライアントにとって重要な課題に意識を配ることができ、行動を起こす責任はクライアントにあることを認識させることができる。

  1. クライアントが宣言した目標に向かうため、クライアントに対して行動を起こすことを明確にリクエストすることができる。
  2. 前回のセッションで約束した行動についてクライアントに尋ねることで、フォローアップすることができる。
  3. 前回のセッションからクライアントが達成したこと、達成しなかったこと、学習したこと、気づいたことを承認することができる。
  4. セッション中に得るクライアントの情報を、効果的に準備、整理、見直しすることができる。
  5. コーチングの計画と結果、同意の上の行動プラン、将来のセッションの課題に注目し続けることで、セッションの合間にクライアントが軌道を外れないようにすることができる。
  6. コーチングのプランに焦点を当てる一方で、コーチングのプロセスに基づいて行動を調整することを受け入れ、セッション中に方向転換をすることができる。
  7. している意味合いを定めながら、クライアントが向かっている先の全体像とクライアントが本当に望んでいることの間を自由に行き来できる。
  8. クライアントの自己鍛練を促進して、実行すると言っていたこと、実行しようとしたことの成果、もしくは関連した時期の特定の計画に対して、クライアントに自己責任を持たせることができる。
  9. 決定を下す、重要な懸念を扱う、自己を伸ばす(フィードバックを受ける、優先順位を決める、学習のペースを決める、経験から学ぶ)というクライアントの能力を伸ばすことができる。
  10. クライアントが実行すると決めた行動をとらなかった場合、そのことに対しクライアントを積極的に向き合わせることができる。
